Condemning the rape-and-murder an eight-year-old girl Muslim girl Asifa Bano at Rasana village in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir in January earlier this year, the Kashmir Christian community on Friday demanded exemplary punishment for the guilty.
“The Christian community of Jammu and Kashmir demands exemplary punishment to the guilty in the gruesome rape and murder,” a statement issued by Kashmir Christian Prayer Center (KCPC) here said. KCPC expressed deep worry and concern at the way forces of hate and division are striving to polarize the state, the statement said.
The community also decried the attempts by some Jammu-based organisations of communalising and politicising the issue so that justice to the innocent girl is denied.
“The Christian community of the state is of the view that there should be a speedy trial so that the justice prevails,” it added.
